Firsthand Foods
Empowering Ranchers & Building Community
Firsthand Foods is disrupting the traditional supply chain, and we absolutely love them for it! The company, founded by Co-CEOs Jennifer Curtis and Tina Prevatte Levy, incorporated “Honest Goodness” into their logo. That ideal is truly at the heart of their business model.
“Small-scale farmers are often denied access to market opportunities. We set out to change that by building a robust market for local, pasture-raised meats that consumers can trust were raised humanely in a spirit of fairness and stewardship.”
Jennifer and Tina’s business model has empowered NC’s local farming community - farmers like Matt Moore of Triple Creek Farm and Tim Austin of Austin Farms (farm photo above) - to focus on what they do best: raising healthy herds.
Firsthand then handles the final steps of bringing the meat to market with their network of local meat processors and packagers. Local chefs and customers like us can rest assured, knowing that each part of Firsthand’s network meets their high standards. They strive for safety, minimal waste and optimal quality at every step.
“At the end of the day, we’re in the relationship business and treating folks with respect and transparency is central to our model. We’re excited to build a new way to bring meat to your table and inspired to be a part of a dynamic and equitable food community that allows every person, animal and place to thrive.”
All of Firsthand’s farmers share their standards for humane, ethical, and innovative farming practices. They also work with some of NC’s finest small, family-run meat processors who are USDA-inspected and Animal Welfare Approved by A Greener World.
